If you’ve ever wondered why emotions can feel like such a big part of ADHD, you won’t want to miss our October ADHDKC Parent Group!

In this episode of ADHDKC Conversations, we introduce Dr. Sasha Hamdani, psychiatrist, ADHD clinical specialist, author of two books, including her recently released Too Sensitive, and our featured speaker for October. We’re excited to bring her to ADHDKC to talk with our parent community because she is a force in ADHD advocacy.

Our conversation gives you a preview of the ideas Dr. Hamdani will explore more fully in her upcoming presentation, “ADHD and Emotional Dysregulation: The Missing Piece.” We talk about why ADHD may be better understood as a disorder of regulation—not just attention—including the regulation of emotions, motivation, energy, and attention.

In this episode Dr. Hamdani also shares some fascinating insight into the neurobiology of emotional sensitivity and an important reminder for parents: when a child is highly dysregulated, they may not be able to access the coping tools they’ve learned. Helping our kids regulate often starts with understanding what is happening in their brains—and sometimes with regulating ourselves first.

And this is just the introduction! Listen and see why we’re so excited to learn with Dr Hamdani.

Join us October 13 for the full presentation

Tuesday, October 13 • 6:30 PM CST • Online

Dr. Hamdani will join our ADHDKC Parent Group to present “ADHD and Emotional Dysregulation: The Missing Piece.” This will be an opportunity to hear her full presentation live and ask your own questions during the interactive Q&A.

We’ll also record the full presentation and share it later as a long-form ADHDKC Conversations episode, so you’ll be able to listen to the complete presentation even if you can’t attend live. But joining us October 13 gives you the chance to be part of the conversation and ask Dr. Hamdani your questions in real time.
